Suet bird feed balls have all gone; Quorn balls are still there but have been broken up, to be fair I think that might have been a squirrel
Ryvita and Shredded Wheat have gone, again I think the squirrel had them
OK all the birds and other wildlife have now are nuts and Quorn balls - just as birds know to avoid volcano and natural disasters, I reckon they will know to avoid Quorn -but, impartial as I am, I will report back here
OK so some folk might think I don't give Quorn a fair chance .... go figure the quasi-poisonous fungal mass isn't liked ... but still
I have always really enjoyed feeding wild birds and thought I would share some 'nutrient packed meat-free products' with them through my bird hotel
I made a few Quorn ball-shaped lumps and put them in the left feeder, put a few regular suet based ball-shaped lumps in the right feeder
Just a hunch put shredded wheat on the left cage thing and Ryvita in the right cage thing. As a control I left peanuts and seed mix on the central feeders
Its a little early to say f'sure but even birds shy away from Quorn, in fact they would rather eat Ryvita than Quorn ... but lets give it a day or two
... maybe the cat will somehow eat the Quorn and finally stay away from the bird feeders
Today I have been travelling with the Head of Laboratory Services, down the UK motorway system to Devon
We stopped at a motorway services; the first thing was all the staff were so friendly and helpful it was a great 'pit stop' the next was the prices of everything - they were like huge !!
So I swallowed a coffee that would have cost me 80% less if we had stopped in any town, I shook hands with a poor guy in a Postman Pat outfit (who was standing in the sweltering heat trying to get people to visit Devon) and the sipped on a bottle of water which was a bargain at three times its normal price
We got there to find that they had solved the problem themselves. So right now, I am holed up in a Travel Lodge, trying to get the TV to tune into anything that isn't the local news
